Aircraft Painter

JOB DESCRIPTION:         

The Aircraft Painter is responsible for the removal of old substances, the preparation and coating of surfaces on aircraft paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin, or other material.  The Aircraft Painter is also in charge of the proper handling, storing and disposal of hazardous materials relating to their duties.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Essential/Typical Duties:

• Prepares all surfaces/aircraft for painting, to include:
  • Removing old paint from AGE/GSE, using, but not limited to, bead blast, paint removers, and scraping.
  • Smooths, or roughens specific surfaces, in accordance with procedures, requirements, technical orders, ensuring proper adherence of paint to specific surfaces.
  • Masks and/or covers portions of surfaces not to be painted.
• Coats surfaces with paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin or other materials.
• Paints insignia, letters or numerals utilizing stencils.
• Responsible for ensuring coating and/or painting duties are performed as scheduled.
• Utilize safety practices and procedures, including personal protective equipment (PPE), in accordance with established regulations.
• Follow federal and state rules when storing, using, handling, labeling and disposing of hazardous materials.

            Non-Essential Duties:

• Other related duties, as required.

Lifting/Moving Requirements:

• Requires the individual ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Environmental Conditions:

• Generally, works in areas with and without environmentally controlled work areas.
• Exposure to extreme weather and temperature in and around the work areas.
• Potential exposure to harsh or hazardous compounds and chemicals.
